YELLOW-IS-THE-NAMEIsn’t she beautiful I just adore this stone and it reminded me of avery old song which went along the lines of ‘yellow is the colour of my true loves hair in the morning’ always wonder what colour her hair was later in the day!!! haha

yes it is happening

Yes at last the Chrissie Day Wire Jewelry kits are on the way,Viking Loom at York will produce and distribute these kits and it is a very exciting venture ,so watch this space  or ask your local retailer.

Been messing about with mixing wires and techniques and knitting to pattern and using very unusual ribbon and silks ,here is a small looky see IMG_7769at the beginning of it all.

a good day

My future son in law is home safe on UK soil the birds are singing I feel good .

Well as you all know I am up to my eyes in wedding preparations, silks and crystals and etc etc all over the place. But I have finished my outfit –my friends told me to make it first otherwise it would not get done  -so I listened and I obeyed and it is done all bar my jewelry.

Stitching test pieces of silk with beautiful crystals is lovely but there is only so much white silk and crystal you can look at and I want some crystals too, only my outfit has so much colour in in that I have chosen the ca lmest colour to add my crystals to for my piece .

As neither my daughter or my daughter in law to be are beaders I feel safe to show you as they do not read this blog ,I will need a nice tan to show this off to its best. As those who follow my journey with beads and  know geometric designs have inspired me so much and all the fabulous art deco and baroque architecture especially in Prague has filled loads of sketchbooks .

Prague was a fabulous city to just kick back in and go with the flow, going to impromptu jazz concerts or gallery showings and the nice thing is you always know what is happening as leaflets are given out at every corner as you wander around the city.

Back to my necker because it is going to be big eventually as I like big jewelry that makes an impact so fine crystals and tiny delicas but a big piece  and I am hoping it is going to be just right .Here revealed is the start of ‘Through the Storm’beadilicious-blog1Named because of the greys and the lights .My oufit has a beautiful colourful fabric which has everything from 2 shades of grey to purple cerise, lime and coral so from all those, grey and crystal looks stunning and will suit me best .Will I make the May 8th deadline ? hope so.thanks to all the geometric help from Glenda Payseno and Jann Muhlhauser and their journey into the world of geometric beading

Bracelets  to view, patterns and guidelines will be on the website http://www.chrissieday.co.uk from next week  lots of beautiful new beads available form http://www.beadsdirect.co.uk  Karen and team will be happy to help .

Beading classes starting online and here in the studio from July onwards .

beading designs

Have looked at loads of wedding dresses with my daughter and decided the beading designs on them are so sad and unimaginative and sharp beads stitched under the arms !!!!! decided to have a go at designing some stunning stencils for the bodices and for the trains –as if I had nothing to do.

Watch this space for the latest stencils to appear with full diagrams .

cruisesIt is grey outside, it is January, and as we dream of strawberries and cream or picnics with friends or chocolate with chocolate ,how about dreaming of crafting with cruising,What a great idea this is (why didn’t I think of it ) Melissa Gower did and has put together some awesome holiday packages to tempt anyone to go ,can’t knit go and learn, can’t crochet go and learn and beading and spinnning etc all whilst cruising and having a great holiday with like minded crafty souls .

See the link on the left to learn all about it.

I can just picture it every day would be like going to a beading event and then chatting for hours about the spoils we had got, the tricks we had learnt, the techniques which looked awesome until some lovely demonstrator had showed us the easy way.As a teacher  having a class with you for so long must be like heaven as there is time to follow through make sure your new pupil is heading in the right direction ready for the next step of learning, ready to fly solo and you will be there to see it –marvellous .Well I am going to meet the cruisers of America as they come over on the 13th July  to the UK many seeing London for the first time, all after cruising with Barry from Trensetter Yarns wow what an experience .Where do you start to make sure yarnies see all there is in London and also get the retail therapy they will need .We have  Gerard and Craig at IKnit London we have Loop we have VVRouleaux for trimmings we have museums and all the normal Royal things of course ,we have Handspinners and Weavers, oh my brain is going into overdrive thinking what else there is to see and do .

The whole concept of cruising seeing new places with like minded folk and learning has really fired me up ,who knows one day you may see me there .

Looking forward to the new beads arriving and the wirework I have to do,if there are any techniques you would like to download in a step by step format do drop me an email to have your say chrissieday@gmail.com

Keep beading —-the new size delicas are beautiful
